A very good deal by the largest online retailer in the Americas, Amazon has been spotted recently. The new G2 Android smartphone can be bought for only $99, but requires users to subscribe for a new 2-year agreement.

That means you'll be avoiding all those mail in rebates that you have to pay to get the product, and you also receive it pretty fast as the smartphone is eligible for the Free 2-Day Shipping offer.

Those that wish to upgrade to T-Mobile's G2 will still have to pay $199, so there's no deal here, but the offer mostly targets new users.

Even though the online retailer has much better offers than this one, we can't deny that you will be able to get the G2 much cheaper than you would get it from the carrier's stores.

The price that T-Mobile is charging for the G2 is $199.99 with 2-year contract, or $499.99 with no annual contract. After the Instant Discount (-$250.00) and Mail-in Rebate Card (-$50.00), you can barely reach $199.99, which is $100 more expensive than Amazon's offer.

For those out of the loop, the G2 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7230 800 MHz processor and runs Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo).

The Android smartphone comes with a 3.7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors support (480x800 pixels resolution), QWERTY keyboard, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Swype text input, multi-touch input method, optical trackpad.

Other key features of the G2 include: HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA, 2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, 3.5 mm audio jack, GPS with A-GPS support, 4 GB storage, 512 MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8GB card included).

It also sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging and video recording capabilities (720p).

The phone's 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the carrier for up to 9 hours and 50 minutes of talk time and 430 hours of standby.
