Amazon surely likes to brag with the success of its Kindle Fire 7-inhc tablet and earlier today it sent out yet another press release saying that its Kindle family has sold in millions of units during this Holiday season.

As expected the most popular Kindle of the bunch was the Fire, as this has been the best selling product on Amazon.com for 13 weeks in a row now, with the Kindle Touch and vanilla Kindle taking the second and third spots.

No exact numbers were given, but Amazon did say that through the entire month of December, customers have been buying Kindle products at a rate exceeding a million per week.

“We are grateful to our customers worldwide for making this the best holiday ever for Kindle,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com founder and CEO.

“And in a huge milestone for independent publishing, we’d also like to congratulate Darcie Chan, the author of ‘The Mill River Recluse,’ and Chris Culver, the author of ‘The Abbey,’ for writing two of the best-selling Kindle books of the year,” concluded the company’s rep.

Amazon unveiled the Kindle Fire on September 28 and the tablet is based on a customized version of Android.

Hardware wise, the Fire has a 7-inch IPS screen with a 1024x600 resolution, Gorilla Glass coating, a dual-core processor, and all of these are fitted inside a chassis that weighs 14.6 ounces (roughly 413 grams).

Since the Fire is designed primarily for media consumption, it offers its access to more than 19 million movies, TV shows, songs, books, magazines, apps and games, such as Netflix, Hulu, Pandora and Angry Birds.

Pricing for the 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet is set at just $199 (154 EUR), which definitely is one of the reasons why these keep flying out of Amazon.com’s virtual shelves.
