Up to three million of these things should be sold each month

Amazon is preparing to launch a new e-book reader, one that will be small but equipped with a color screen, unlike most such devices.

Digitimes looked into what was happening with Amazon's product suppliers, and what it found was quite intriguing.

Citing the Chinese-language Economic Daily News ePaper, the report says that E ink Holdings has landed orders for 6-inch color e-book reader modules.

Product shipments are expected to commence at some point in March (2012), probably at the onset of the month.

Unfortunately, nothing was said regarding specs or pricing, so all we can do is wait and keep a lookout for whatever other leaks show up.

People's attention may be drawn to other things in the meantime, like apparently delayed Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs and the recently discovered specs of the AMD Pitcairn GPUs.
