Amazon has rolled out the new Fire TV just this week

Earlier today I just told you Amazon updated its dedicated Android tablet app, adding a few functionalities and improvements. But the shopping giant apparently quietly rolled out an update for the Kindle Fire HD (2013) and seemingly for the Kindle Fire HDX too.

Reports are coming from owners of both slates saying they have received the update. According to Amazon, the update is packed with “general improvements and performance enhancements” but, as The-Digital-Reader suggests, this might actually translate into added support being for the Fire TV.

Amazon launched its media streaming device this week, during a media event in NYC, which is pretty exciting, considering users will be able to stream content from a Kindle Fire HDX to the Fire TV.

Nevertheless, this is mere speculation at this point, but it does seem to make sense that Amazon would update the Kindle HDX in anticipation of its Fire TV.

The official Amazon websites lists the updates for the 7-inch and 8.9-inch versions of the slates, but there’s no changelog provided, hence the speculation.

As users update to the soft version, I will be able to tell you if anything looks different and if some extra feats have been added to the table.
