The Kindle line of e-readers has settled down in terms of shipments, and tablets as a whole have come to the point where they aren't rising in shipment all that much anymore.

In other words, just being a tablet isn't enough to get sold, so upgrades are required. Periodically if possible.

Amazon is getting ready to upgrade its whole Kindle Fire tablet series, according to BGR.

They are expected to launch this fall, possibly in September, since that's the month when the current collection came out, back in 2012.

The new ones will have several improvements, such as a much lighter frame, different locations for the power and volume buttons (the sloping area on the back, made more angular than before) and better specifications.

That means 2,560 x 1,600 pixels display for the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, a 1,920 x 1,200 display for Kindle Fire HD, and 1,280 x 800 pixels for the 7-inch Kindle Fire.

Presumably, the processors and other features will be modified as well.
