Today, Amazon has made available new software updates for its newly released tablets, namely version 11.3.0.1 and 13.3.0.1 developed for Kindle Fire HD (2nd Generation) and Kindle Fire HDX, respectively.

The updates include enhanced features and general improvements that will increase the devices’ overall performance. In addition to that, the HDX tablets get a “Mayday” button in the “Quick Settings” menu, providing the possibility to connect with an Amazon Tech advisor.

The firmware packages will be delivered wirelessly, but this means you might have to wait until your tablet receives it, and it could also be risky if the Internet connection is poor. However, the versions can be downloaded and installed manually through a USB cable.

In order to do that, first check the tablet’s currently installed version by going to Quick Settings → Settings → Device → System Updates, and if it doesn’t match with the latest firmware available, then download the proper package for your Kindle.

Now, connect the Kindle to the computer via a USB cable, copy the firmware onto the root folder of the device’s internal storage, and make sure it transfers completely. Afterwards, go to Quick Settings → Settings → Device → System Updates, and from there, tap the “Update” button.

At this point, the tablet restarts and an “Installing system update” message appears on the screen. When it finishes, the tablet will reboot once more, and if you check the software version again, it should now be 13.3.0.1 (for the HDX) or 11.3.0.1 (for the HD 2).

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Kindle tablet, download the package, and update the device’s firmware version.
