The new update only includes general improvements

Amazon has just unveiled the 20.4.1.1 firmware update targeted at its newly released Fire HD 6 and 7 tablets, which only includes general improvements, as well as performance enhancements.

If you own one of these two devices and intend to upgrade it to this firmware release, first check the currently installed version to make sure that it isn’t either newer or matching the present build. To do so, simply go to Menu > Settings > System Updates, and review the software details.

If all is ok, save the appropriate package for your Fire HD model, connect the tablet to the computer using a USB cable, navigate to the root folder of the device’s internal storage, and drop the downloaded .bin file there.

Bear in mind that if you unwillingly transfer the “update-kindle-20.4.1.1_user_411009520.bin” into any other folder, the upgrade will be unable to initiate.

After the update file has been successfully copied, safely disconnect the tablet from the computer, go to Menu > Settings > System Updates once more, and start the installation process from there.

Last but not least, after the new system software has been applied, check the currently installed firmware version once more as described above in order to make sure the update process has been successful.

With this in mind, download Amazon Fire HD 6 Firmware 20.4.1.1 or download Amazon Fire HD 7 Firmware 20.4.1.1 depending on which tablet you own, and apply the new update using the above-described steps.
