You'll have to wait for another week or two for a new batch

Christmas is coming, which means that some people are already stocking up on secret gifts. That, in turn, can mean rapid supply depletion for certain products, as has happened to Amazon's Paperwhite e-reader.

I'm not talking about the original Paperwhite launched last year. I'm referring to the second-generation e-reader, which has only been available for eight days.

It's out of stock now. On the official website, the Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi is said to ship in 7 to 10 days.

At least the Kindle Paperwhite 3G is still available, although it's quite possible it will be out of stock too, soon enough.

If you already have a Paperwhite, you don't need to upgrade to this one, some reviewers claim. However, those that wanted one last year and didn't get it for whatever reason will be glad to know that the new one has a better front light, faster screen refresh rate and better responsiveness overall.
