The money will go to different charity organizations

In anticipation of the Christmas holidays, Amazon is getting charitable, but at the customers’ expense, nevertheless.

The tech giant has just announced that it was initiating its AmazonSmile shopping campaign. Buyers purchasing an Amazon Kindle Fire HDX tablet (7-inch or 8.9-inch) can have Amazon donate $20 / €15 to a charitable organization of their choice.

Basically, if you decide to purchase via AmazonSmile, the tech giant will be awarding 0.5% of the price to your favorite charity. But customers aren't forced to do so and, if they prefer, they can shop the normal way.

Note that charitable organizations have to register to participate and become eligible to receive the donations, so if you don’t find the institution you’re looking for, you’ll have to choose another one.

If you have changed your mind about where the money should go, you can simply select the “Change your Charity” to select another organization.

Amazon is currently sending out emails to notify customers, so if you feel like giving to the less fortunate, head on to the company's official layer and place your order.
