Not so long ago Amazon India discounted the original version of the Paperwhite

Back in June 2013, Amazon launched the first Kindle Paperwhite in India and now, several months later, it has announced the new version has been finally made available in the country.

Amazon announced the second-gen Paperwhite back in September 2013 for several markets, but now Indian customers have the chance of getting one, too.

The eReader has a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels (comparable with some of the tablets out there) with 212 ppi. The characteristic which made this particular eReader famous is the built-in light which allows users to read in the dark.

Other specifications include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 2GB of internal memory (which is enough for storing up to 1000 books) and a battery than can sustain life for more than 8 weeks. A 3G model has also been made available in the country.

Amazon bundles the device is a variety of services, which includes Kindle Page Flip, Goodreads Integration, Kindle FreeTime, Vocabulary Builder, New Smart Lookup, In-line Footnotes and Cloud Collections.

The Wi-Fi only model will sell for Rs. 10,999 / $176 / €130 while the Wi-Fi + 3G will cost Rs. 13,999 / $224 / €166 from Amazon and other retailers.
