Back when the Kindle Paperwhite was first introduced to the world, Amazon took a couple of months before pushing out the 3G model, long after it had begun offering the Wi-Fi model.

Now the guys over at The-EBook-Reader have noticed the device is constantly backordered and they claim the eReader has been in this state ever since its release.

Meanwhile, the Wi-Fi version appears to always be in stock and customers only have to wait for a few days before the eReader ships out to them. By comparison, those looking to grab the 3G model have to wait 6 to 8 weeks.

Is Amazon possibly thinking of discontinuing the product? After all, the 3G Paperwhite is listed as #86 bestselling product in Amazon’s electronics bestselling list. By contrast, the Wi-Fi model comes in at number #2.

So are you ready to say bye-bye to the 3G Paperwhite?
