The Kindle Voyage eReader is selling like crazy

Last week was very busy for retail giant Amazon, as the company pushed out a bunch of new products, updated models of existing devices and its latest OS version, Sangria, which is based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

One of these products is the company’s next-gen flagship eReader, which arrived in the wild as the Kindle Voyage.

It was high time Amazon provided a successor for its popular Kindle Paperwhite 2, which hadn’t been revamped in over a year.

The Kindle Voyage is already super popular

And surprise-surprise, the new eReader hasn’t been out and about long and it already is backordered.

This means that Amazon is seeing incredible response from customers and the Voyage is selling like hot cakes. That’s good for the company but bad for perspective customers, as estimated shipping dates have been pushed as far as December.

So if you too want to go ahead and place an order for a Voyage eReader, you should know that you’ll have to be quite patient. Hopefully, you’ll be able to get your avid hands on it until Santa Claus knocks on your door.

The Kindle Voyage 3G is still on track shipping-wise

Of course we’re talking about the Wi-Fi-only model here, because the 3G+ model is still on track for being shipped out in October, but this model will arrive with a steeper price tag.

Anyway, for those of you who have missed our previous coverage last week, the Voyage eReader (Wi-Fi) went on sale a few days ago for $199 / €154.

For this amount of money, you’ll be able to take advantage of a 6-inch device coming in with a grayscale display with impressive 300 ppi.

The eReader takes advantage of a touchscreen display with high-resolution, a front-lit panel and a nifty new system that employs built-in touch sensors on the side of the screen to help you turn pages without touching the screen with your fingers.

The new eReader comes equipped with 4GB of internal storage, which is more than enough to store all your eBooks and boasts 802.11n Wi-Fi, so you can download all the reading material you need.

This weekend, we argued that Kindle products (especially eReaders) remain Amazon’s champions and this is unlikely to change, despite the company’s attempts to penetrate other markets, like the smartphone one.

And the fact that only a few days after the Kindle Voyage went official, the device’s status is “backordered” only proves our point that Amazon should keep concentrating on its eReaders instead of going on a wild goose haunt into other territories it apparently has no clue about.
