Today, Amazon has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at its Kindle Touch e-Reader device, namely version 5.3.7.2, which includes general fixes as well as performance enhancements.

The new release can be applied either automatically, which requires you to wait a while until the update reaches the device (the new firmware is delivered in stages), or manually, meaning you can download and install the new software now.

Therefore, if you intend to immediately update your e-Reader, then go to Home → Menu → Settings → Menu → Device Info, check to see if the currently installed version isn’t either newer or matching this release, and if all is ok, proceed to get the firmware (.bin file format).

Afterwards, connect the Kindle Touch to the computer using a USB cable, copy the newly-downloaded .bin file onto the root folder of the device’s internal storage, make sure it has been saved correctly, and disconnect the Kindle.

Now, go to Home → Menu → Settings → Menu → Update Your Kindle, tap “Ok” to initiate the upgrade, and wait for the process to complete. During the installation, a “Your Kindle Is Updating” message will be displayed on the screen, and upon completion, the device will automatically restart.

With this in mind, download Amazon Kindle Touch Firmware 5.3.7.2, apply it on your device, and constantly check our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
