It appears that Amazon figured it was time the kindle e-reader began to sell through more channels that its own web store, so it has partnered with OfficeMax, which will begin to sell it through its many stores starting this month.

By now, not many users will be left confused when told to state what the words Amazon Kindle mean for them, since the e-reader amassed quite a bit of fame, being the foremost of its kind.

Still, just in case not all prospective buyers could be reached through the channels already under use, Amazon's Kindle will be landing in more stores soon.

More specifically, OfficeMax has decided, starting on August 7, to sell the 3G/WiFi version.

“We’re excited that customers will now have yet another way to discover and purchase Kindle,” said Mike McKenna, vice president, Amazon Kindle.

“OfficeMax will be offering its customers a great experience with Kindle—the ability to think of a book and be reading it in less than 60 seconds, read on a screen that is easy on the eyes even in bright sunlight, and carry thousands of books with them wherever they go in just 8.5 ounces.”

The product has a 6-inch E-ink screen and offers access to about 950,000 books, a number that grows each month as new and old texts are digitized.

There is also a so-called “Kindle with Special Offers” model that Amazon has been speaking about lately (ad-supported). This particular product will not be included in OfficeMax's activities.

“OfficeMax is thrilled to be working with Amazon to offer Kindle and its related accessories to our customers,” said Ryan Vero, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for OfficeMax.

“Kindle is a highly innovative and versatile wireless reader that brings our customers new ways to access and enjoy books and news.”
