Amazon is struggling to keep customers interested in its eBook reader products in India at all costs. Starting this week, potential buyers are invited to try out a special offer that enables them to order and use the devices for two full weeks, before deciding whether they have a place in their life or not.

The promotion is available until July 23 and includes the Kindle Paperwhite (3G and non-3G model) and the Kindle 6-inch e-ink display model.

But don’t go thinking you won’t have to take cash out of your pocket for this one. Amazon will charge you upfront for the Kindle of your choice, but if in the two weeks you decide the device is not what you thought it would be, you will receive a full refund in 3 to 5 days in the form of a cheque or bank transfer.

The campaign offers only one device per customers and sadly the promotion doesn't cover the company’s tablets, the Kindle Fire bunch, although we can expect Amazon to include them at some point in time, with another occasion.

If customers want to receive a full refund, the eReaders have to be returned with the original packing tags, inbox literature, warranty / guarantee cards, freebies and related accessories.

Those interested in signing up for the promotion should know the Kindle Paperwhite 3G model is available for Rs. 13,999 / $234 / €172, while the non-3G one sells for Rs. 10,999 / $184 / €135. Last but not least, the 6-inch E-Ink model sells for Rs. 5,999 / $100 / €73.

Amazon says the main goal behind the program is to allow customers to experience how great it is to be reading on a Kindle. The offer lets digital reader try out features such as in-built dictionary, X-ray search, text size adjustments, highlighting and so on.

The all-new Kindle Paperwhite is the latest Amazon device to have launched in India. The eReader brings a new display technology featuring a built-in light, 25% faster processor and new touch display with 19% tighter touch grid which brings about better sensitivity.

What’s more, due to its 3G functionality, users will be able to access both Facebook and Twitter, which came pre-installed as part of the bundle.

Threatened by the completion, Amazon might as well offer the Kindle Fire tablets under a similar promotion too. Recently, retail giant Flipkart launched its own branded Digiflip Pro XT712 set of tablets starting with a 7-inch one which was offered for a price tag of Rs. 9,999 / $166 / €122.
