Starting this Friday, July 25, mobile phone users in the United States can purchase the new Amazon Fire Phone on the network of wireless carrier AT&T, after the device went official several weeks ago.

The handset was put up for sale both through AT&T and Amazon themselves, priced starting at $199.99 (€149) for the 32GB version, with the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

The smartphone also comes in a 64GB flavor, which can be purchased for $299.99 (€223), if you are willing to grab it on contract.

However, you can also get the smartphone SIM-free, while having to pay $649.99 (€484) for the 32GB model, or $749.99 (€558) for the 64GB variant. Both versions are available with AT&T Next 18, for $27.09 (€20.10) and $31.25 (€23.27) a month, respectively.

Compared to what other smartphones out there have to offer in terms of hardware specs, the new Amazon Fire Phone might seem a bit too expensive for many users.

However, the phone does come with a series of exclusive features, including Dynamic Perspective and Firefly, the latter offering access to Amazon’s over 33 million songs, apps, games, movies, TV shows, books, audiobooks, and magazines.

The mobile phone was released with a 4.7-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD resolution, as well as with a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside, with Adreno 330 GPU.

Moreover, the Amazon Fire Phone arrives on shelves with 2GB of RAM, the aforementioned internal memory options, and unlimited cloud storage for photos.

On the back, it sports a 13-megapixel camera with OIS, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, while packing a 2.1MP front camera for video calling, along with four front-facing cameras for dynamic perspective and a wider field of view.

The handset was released with support for the wireless carrier’s 4G LTE network, as well as with the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS receiver capabilities.

The smartphone is powered by a 2400mAh battery that can deliver up to 18 hours of talk time or up to 9.2 days of standby time. It runs under Fire OS 3.5, which is based on Google’s Android operating system.

“We can’t wait for customers to experience Amazon Fire for themselves,” says Ian Freed, vice president, Amazon Fire.

“Fire offers an amazing value for customers with innovative features like Dynamic Perspective and Firefly, access to Amazon-exclusive content and services, including Mayday, ASAP and more –plus premium hardware with 32 GB of memory –twice the amount leading competitors offer, as well as free, unlimited photo storage in the Amazon Cloud and 12 months of Amazon Prime included.”

You can purchase the Amazon Fire Phone either from AT&T’s website or directly from Amazon (both the 32GB and 64GB versions).
