Amazon, best known for its impressive marketplace, seems to be determined to also have a big impact on the gaming world in the coming years, with a focus on the development of a solid video game experience for the PC.

An ad for the upcoming game on Gamasutra states that it is aiming to use technologies like Twitch streaming and the cloud in order to deliver evolved gameplay.

The company adds, "We believe that games have just scratched the surface in their power to unite players and will produce some of the future’s most influential voices in media and art."

Amazon has already recruited video game makers who have created hits like World of Warcraft, BioShock and Portal, and other members of the team have also been involved with titles like Left for Dead, DOTA 2, Halo, Infamous, Half-Life 2, Shadow of Mordor, and The Last of Us.

That's a very diverse list of video games, and it's unclear how their creators will be able to deliver a unitary vision of a future experience.

The company is looking to expand the team that is working on its first PC-focused project, but it is at the moment unwilling to actually offer details about the genre it will be linked with or the kind of innovation it will deliver.

Amazon can disrupt the video game space

The company has managed to become one of the dominant forces of the current Internet-focused industry by delivering a better service than its competitors and by making sure that its clients are always satisfied, even during periods when the company is not making too much money.

It seems that there are no plans to introduce new special Amazon hardware, and that means the PC-based experience needs to truly revolutionize gameplay to be a success.

An official announcement about the project will probably be made at some point before the end of the year.

The team of developers that has been assembled includes some big names, and rumors are saying that Crytek was saved when Amazon agreed to use its powerful engine for at least one major project.
