The Environmental Media Association has recently taken the time to praise “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” for being one of the most eco-friendly movies to have until now been made.

Thus, the Association is thrilled that the cast of “Spider-Man 2” agreed to work closely with environmental group the World Wildlife Fund and raise awareness about Earth Hour 2014.

It further argues that the movie must also be applauded for the series of green-oriented measures that were implemented while work on this cinematic production was still ongoing.

These green-oriented measures include the use of rented and reusable sets, relying on water-based smoke for special effects, reusing makeup textiles, and creating a Twitter account, i.e. EcoSpidey, intended to raise awareness about environmental issues.

What's more, Sony Pictures donated extra food that remained at the end of every lunch to shelters, and helped keep about 190,000 plastic bottles from reaching landfills by eliminating the need to use them, Ecorazzi informs.

“I admire Sony for putting in the effort in and doing what they can,” Andrew Garfield, who plays Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” said in a statement.

“‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ in the most eco-friendly blockbuster in the history of the [Sony] studio,” Hannah Minghella with Sony Pictures also wished to stress.
