However, the otter in this picture seems to be even cuter while its sleepy-mode is still activated.
You might not have noticed, but the paw it is holding against its cheek is dry, as otters sleep on their backs, with their paws resting on their bellies, to make sure they are kept warm.
According to sources, wildlife photographer Jon Cornforth (i.e. the man who took this amazing picture) explains how, “The sea otters are well known and cooperative photographic subjects.”
Still, “As cute and serene as the otters appear, they can become quiet aggressive with each other, especially when mating.”
