Cape gannets are argued to be the living equivalent of missiles

Although presently an endangered species, cape gannets do not really receive the media attention they deserve.

What makes these birds so amazing is the fact that, when they decide that they are hungry enough to go fishing, they pretty much plunge into the open waters at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour (about 75 miles per hour).

Apparently, the force of the impact is roughly the same as that generated should someone decide to tackle a brick wall head-on.

Once they get below sea level, they continue to move with incredible grace and swiftness, catching the fish they were after and then making their way back to the surface with it.

Cape gannets can be seen from afar, as their black and white plumage, together with their yellow crown, makes them quite visible against the blue oceans.

The video down below shows just how mind-blowing these birds' hunting skills are.
