The extreme cold hitting the US in the last days gave amateur scientists the perfect opportunities to do some cool experiments like freezing a T-shirt in less than 60 seconds or turn water into snow instantly.

A YouTube user called Tom Rauen, from Dubuquin, Iowa uploaded a video of him proving that the extreme temperature outside can freeze a T-shirt almost immediately.

The blue T-shirt turns solid in a matter of seconds after being kept outside, in below-zero temperatures and hit thousands of views in just a few days. Other newly-become scientists had their own experiments by showing videos of water instantly turned into snow or frost creating boiling-water-pistols.

The extreme cold that hit the US in the last couple of days has authorities warning people to stay indoors in order not to freeze in the streets. Large parts of America are almost entirely frozen with temperatures dropping to -58F (-50C), known as the “polar vortex.”
