Last night, the Amarok team happily announced the third beta version of the upcoming Amarok 2.0 audio player for the K Desktop Environment (KDE). The new development version is dubbed Ataksak, and comes packed with a database importer for all those that still use the version 1.4 of the Amarok player and who want to conserve their song rating and statistics when the time comes to migrate. The team also added a new shortcut that allows them to jump to the current song in the playlist, and... as a bonus, they've revived the "sorting by year and album" function in the Collection Browser.

"It is that time again! The time where the world seems just a little brighter and happier, the sun shines just a little warmer and even though (at least in the northern hemisphere) winter is approaching fast, people are just that little bit more friendly towards each other. Yes, this can only mean one thing: it is time for another beta of Amarok 2." - said the Amarok team in the official release announcement.

Amarok 2.0 Beta 3 also brings a revamped statusbar and playlist, better Last.fm integration. Moreover, it is more polished and stable than the previous releases.
