Amanda Knox spent 4 years in an Italian prison for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher but, in a new interview with People magazine, she insists, “I am not a murderer.”
After the trial that captured the attention of the media worldwide, which eventually saw her murder conviction overturned, Knox is speaking for the first time about the ordeal in an interview with People magazine, which arrives on newsstands this Friday.
The NBC video below offers a bit more from the interview.
“It never occurred to me that I would be considered a suspect,” Knox says, admitting that there were times when she’d considered taking her own life because she felt as if she couldn’t deal with reality anymore.
She insists she didn’t kill Meredith and hopes that her family will “read [her] book” to get her side of the story as well.
“Her father thinks I'm the killer of his daughter, and that's painful,” she says.
“Waiting to Be Heard,” Amanda’s book, will be out next week.
