Star says decision was prompted by seeing all women look the same because of it

Not long ago, actress and television personality Amanda Holden was proudly saying that she had made of Botox a way of life and that she saw undergoing the procedure on a regular basis as important as, say, whitening one’s teeth. The star seems to have had a change of heart in the meantime, telling the Daily Mail in a new interview that she has decided to let nature follow its course from now on.

This, of course, means no more Botox for her, no matter how fond she was of the procedure less than a year ago. Holden, who acts as judge on ITV’s popular Britain’s Got Talent televised competition, knows the importance of always looking good for the cameras. However, for her, that will no longer mean having Botox injected into her face – not after seeing that most women in Los Angeles who get it look eerily the same.

“I haven’t had Botox for eight or nine months and when I’m out in LA, I think about it even less. It puts me off when I see people out there. Everyone looks the same and it’s quite grotesque. It was something I used when I was in sunnier climates in South Africa,” the 38-year-old star reveals in the interview for the Mail.

This is not the first time that Holden admits to getting hooked on Botox while in Africa, where she was shooting the ITV drama “Wild at Heart.” As per her own words, she was always frowning in the sun, which only came to accentuate the expression lines she already had. Thus, she discovered Botox and could not stop getting it for many months, despite criticism in the media saying she was losing all expressiveness in the face, quite an essential ability for an actor.

In the same interview, Holden also addresses the topic of her having some work done on her lips, which has never and will never happen. Her lips are now thinner with age and not because the filler she had put in them has worn off, she says. And she’s happy the way she is right now, she adds when asked to rate her looks. “When I’ve had full makeup and hair I would say ten out of ten but most average days when I’m just dropping [son] Lexi off to nursery then probably a six because I am a scuzzbag,” Holden says.
