A short while ago, Amanda Bynes was released from the California mental health institution her parents had her committed on an involuntary psychiatric hold, after she appeared in front of a judge and said she was no longer a threat to herself and others, promising at the same time she’d continue taking her medication.

Bynes, once a very successful young actress, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and has had 2 major public meltdowns in the past couple of years, both of them ending with her on a 5150 hold.

When the second one was lifted, she was placed under her parents’ conservatorship, but realizing they had no control over her, they moved to have someone else in charge of her persona and her finances.

Bynes has been wandering around Hollywood, living with friends

Since she was released, Amanda has been staying with friends or sleeping in hotels (and malls), because she doesn’t want to use the apartment her parents bought for her, let alone move back home with them.

From her previous rants, we know that she considers them responsible for everything that’s wrong in her life, and has even accused her father of abusing her physically and emotionally, while her mother knew but did nothing to protect her.

Amanda promised the judge she would continue seeing a therapist and taking her medication, but she seems to have lapsed into her old behavior, judging from two recordings released online. TMZ says that Amanda’s parents know of the existence of both and agree with them being out, because maybe this will convince authorities that their daughter is not OK and is in desperate need of help.

Amanda threatens to kill her father, slit her mother’s wrists

Here’s a part of the first recording, in which Amanda tries to explain to one of her roommates why she wants to kill her father.

“If your father was my father. Exactly, like, then you would understand why you’d want to slit his wrists and quite frankly, be like, be like, literally like, this is where I go stupid like, I just want to like, I want to like I don’t want to shoot my father in the face, and that’s why I said I want to like strip for him as a joke. I want to literally like lead him into a ditch, and… I haven’t decided how I’d want to murder him, because now I have this like war wound on my face and I don’t believe in murder,” she says.

“Um, ‘cause I know that this is like unfortunate, but it’s not because it’s like ‘my father’ ‘cause I look at him as like a murderer person. It’s like, I literally like, it’s like, he literally like, is the worst person and he tries to match me and be like, and it’s like, nothing would give me greater pleasure than like, slitting his throat. That’s what I would love,” Amanda continues.

She adds that she’s often called her mother to make threats, telling her she would slit her wrists and burn down her house. She obviously hates them for not letting her have access to her money, repeating that she’s got a lot of it – and she doesn’t like to brag, she makes sure to mention.

What does a conservatorship mean for Bynes?

Because she’s been proven to lack discernment, Amanda is on a daily allowance. Her estate, estimated at about $7 million (€5.6 million), is now locked to her parents, who decide how much she can spend – and on what. She can’t make any professional or financial decision on her own, without first obtaining the approval of her parents.

The judge ruled that a conservatorship was in Amanda’s best interest after her parents proved in court she’d been reckless with her money, to the point where she would head into a luxury department store and buy all kinds of expensive items and then simply go out into the street and hand them over to strangers.

Prior to that, Amanda took a cab from Los Angeles to New York, which she paid for in cash. She would also surround herself by people who leeched off her and spent a lot of money on plastic surgery she didn’t need.

Clearly, she doesn’t think that the conservatorship is in her interest, and would gladly kill her parents just so she could get her money back. By the way, shortly after the recordings were released, Amanda took to Twitter to claim that she was just “joking” around by saying these things. Does it sound like she’s joking to you?
