In July this year, after months of odd behavior, Amanda Bynes was put on an involuntary 5150 hold pending mental evaluation. In August, she was put under a conservatorship and moved to a facility where she’s still receiving treatment for her problems.

The other day, Bynes was supposed to be in court with her attorney for a DUI case stemming from an April 2012 arrest.

She didn’t show up, but her attorney offered a good explanation for the judge: she was mentally unfit to stand trial, TMZ reports.

“Amanda was supposed to appear in court today for her DUI arrest in West Hollywood back in April, 2012. Amanda's lawyer, Rich Hutton, told the judge Amanda did not have the mental capacity to understand the nature of the legal proceedings,” the celebrity publication writes.

“The judge apparently had concern and transferred the matter to the mental health court. The judge in that court will conduct a hearing to determine Amanda's mental competency,” the same media outlet says.

Until this happens, Amanda will continue at the undisclosed facility where she’s being treated.

Her parents were named conservators and are now in charge of her money, with the power to decide her future to the best of her advantage.

While arguing their case, they told the judge that Amanda left Los Angeles and moved to New York by cab, pretty much running away from home.

She cut off all contact with them and surrounded herself with all kinds of bad people, which, financially speaking, translated into her spending a fortune on trifles over a short period of time.

Eventually, the judge saw the situation their way, and granted them conservatorship. He also ruled that Amanda would remain admitted because she was a danger to herself and others, which is exactly the contrary of what she tried to prove before her parents were made conservators.
