You get an inkling about how unstable Amanda Bynes really is when you hear that she's struggling even in rehab. The actress started acting erratically as soon as she moved out of her parents’ home when their conservatorship ended and she went out on her own.

Since she was caught shoplifting last week in New York and basically acting like she was on drugs all the time, Amanda was sent to rehab where she remains under strict control of a medical team who is trying to help her deal with her problems.

Amanda has been trying to come to terms with the fact that she's landed in hospital yet again

A friend of hers has told Radar that the actress is in difficulty coping with life in the mental hospital. “Amanda is having a tough time adjusting to being in treatment again. However, the facility she is in is truly first class and it will be a calming environment to deal with her issues out of the spotlight.”

Some of Bynes' most outrageous moves as of late was the claim that she had a chip implanted in her brain which tracked her movements and the allegation that her father abused her when she was a child. That last one she later retracted on Twitter, claiming that it was the chip which made her say those things.

Friends are saying that the deletion of those Twitter posts about accusing her father of molestation was one of her brief moments of clarity and that it was a promising sign.

Sam Lutfi apparently played a key role in Amanda's induction into hospital

Amanda's weird case is now involving Britney Spears' former manager, Sam Lutfi, who apparently met up with the troubled actress in Los Angeles 72 hours before she was admitted to the mental facility. The reason for the meeting is not known, but sources from the media think it had something to do with the fact that Lutfi was trying to convince Amanda to let him help her sue her parents.

Meanwhile, Amanda's parents are said to be trying to get another conservatorship. Other reports indicate that Lutfi was in fact working with her parents and that he was trying to convince her to go to rehab.

The manager apparently tricked Amanda by saying they would make two stops, one at the lawyers and another one at the hotel where she thought she would be meeting up with her mom and dad. But the second she stepped into the hotel room, she was surrounded by hospital staff and whisked away to the Pasadena facility.

Once there, she was put on a 5150 psychiatric hold and is expected to remain there for up to 14 days. One insider is quoted as saying that “They are all of course deeply concerned and devastated about Amanda's behavior. But at least now she is in the right place where she can work on getting better.”
