14 DAY TRIAL // The other day, Amanda Bynes showed off her drastic makeover to the world with a Twitter pic. Since then, people have never ceased talking about her odd behavior in recent months but, according to a pal, she remains blissfully unaware of all this.
Radar Online spoke to a friend of the now-retired actress who, on the condition of anonymity, offered more clues into Bynes’ life since she moved out of LA, relocating to New York to presumably pursue a career as a fashion designer.
Amanda doesn’t think anything is wrong with her even though both family and friends have tried to drive the message home repeatedly, the insider says.
“Amanda has absolutely no idea about the reputation she’s getting for all of her weird behavior,” says the source.
At first, when people started talking about her and how she might be in over her head with alcohol and drugs abuse, she was actually happy that she was finally getting some media attention, the source claims.
“In fact, when she got her DUI and those hit-and-run allegations all she talked about was the publicity she was finally getting!” exclaims the spy.
Granted, Bynes has repeatedly denied rumors that she was having a meltdown or that her weird behavior was connected to substance abuse, saying that, as far as she was concerned, there was no weird behavior to speak of.
She’s simply refusing to admit she has a problem, notes the spy. Nevertheless, her most recent Twitter stunt would seem to indicate the exact opposite of that.
“Amanda’s just totally out of it lately, and any efforts by friends or family to help get her back on track go in one ear and out the other,” the insider says.
“She’s completely secluded herself, and she’s just living in her own little world with her only communication to the outside world through Instagram photos and Twitter! Amanda will continue on this path because she doesn’t think anything is wrong,” the source concludes.
