14 DAY TRIAL // For someone who tries her best to keep out of the spotlight, Amanda Bynes' DUI arrest over the weekend certainly made her tabloid fodder. A source close to the actress is now revealing more details about said DUI bust.
According to the spy, who only agreed to speak with celebrity publication People on the condition of anonymity, Amanda's problems can possibly be traced back to 2008.
It was that her career began to falter and, with it, her self-confidence, the insider dishes.
“This DUI was definitely just a serious lapse in judgment,” says the spy.
“She hit a wall personally and professionally [in 2008]… I think she’s been a little lost since then,” adds the unnamed source, hinting that Amanda might have been drinking her problems away.
However, her father has already denied she has any alcohol-related issues, saying she's basically a “good girl” who never drinks, but who's always picked on because she chooses to be out of the spotlight.
“She was not drunk. I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn't have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn't drink,” Rick Bynes told the weeklies shortly after Amanda's arrest.
As he sees it, she was pulled over and cited because she was so “emotional.” The rest is just lies invented and circulated by the tabloids and the celebrity bloggers / Internet trolls.
“She was upset and very emotional. She is a good girl. She just chooses not to work, and because of that, people go after her,” Mr. Bynes added.
Hours later after Amanda's father said these things to the press, one of the biggest paparazzi agencies in Hollywood, TMZ, released two videos to prove that Amanda was, in fact, a heavy drinker.
On two separate nights in March, she was helped to the car by friends, apparently unable to hold her own alone, as we also noted the other day.
TMZ – and various other media outlets – said this was whatever proof was still necessary for the fact that Bynes had alcohol issues and probably needed rehab.
Oddly enough, since the arrest, Amanda and her rep have been keeping completely mum on the topic.
