14 DAY TRIAL // Amanda Bynes is currently in police custody after she was arrested just hours ago for marijuana possession and evidence tampering, when she tossed a bong she was smoking out the window of her apartment.
TMZ reports that someone from Bynes’ apartment building in Manhattan, New York, called the police to complain that someone was smoking weed in the lobby.
When cops arrived on the scene, she had already gone up to her apartment, so they went there too. She opened the door and let them in upon the first knock.
The officers walked in and immediately spotted a bong nearby. Amanda observed this and, in an instant, made a move for the bong, grabbed it and threw it out the window.
The Hollywood Reporter says that officers could also smell weed in the apartment and that there was a lot of smoke, indicative that she’d just finished smoking a joint.
“Sources confirm Amanda was briefly taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation before she was booked,” TMZ says.
She’s been charged with “criminal possession of the pot, as well as reckless endangerment and felony tampering with evidence” for tossing the bong, the same media outlet notes.
TMZ also writes that, both during and before the arrest, Amanda was acting very “weird,” which could either mean she was incredibly high or mentally unstable. The latter has been subject to a lot of speculation in the press and the blogosphere for the past several months.
“Source close to Amanda tells us police were called because the troubled actress was behaving erratically... doing things like talking to herself. We're told Amanda went ballistic during the arrest, yelling, ‘Don't you know who I am?’,” TMZ writes.
Just the other day, one US weekly ran a story about Amanda’s “drug den” of an apartment, including pictures that she later claimed on Twitter were fake.
The report claimed that Bynes had weed basically everywhere around the house and that she smoked almost non-stop from her stash.
