Actress Amanda Bynes has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after she scraped a police car while trying to pass it. She spent a few good hours in jail and has been released on bail.

Though she rarely makes headlines for her personal life, Amanda has now become the talk of the town, with countless media outlets hinting she might even have an alcohol problem.

Gossip Cop confirms the arrest. Attached to this article is also Amanda's mugshot: she is seen in a full face of makeup and sporting a pink dye job.

“Amanda Bynes was arrested for DUI on early Friday morning, Gossip Cop has confirmed exclusively. The actress was busted in West Hollywood and is still in custody, police tell us,” the e-zine reports.

“Bynes’ troubles began at 3 A.M., when her car collided with the back of a Los Angeles County Sheriff deputy’s vehicle in a failed attempt to pass by it,” Gossip Cop notes.

“Both the deputy’s car and Bynes’ BMW had minor paint damage, though no one was injured,” adds the same publication.

Bail was set at $5,000 (€3,818.54) and the star walked home about 5 hours after she was brought in on suspicion of driving under the influence.

As it happens, this isn't the first time that Bynes gets on the wrong side of the law in recent weeks.

Last month, she was pulled over for speaking on her cell phone but she drove away while the police officer was writing her ticket.

She went to the police station herself a while later to sign and pay the ticket and, as far as we know, no charges were brought against her on that particular instance.

However, she might also be having some alcohol-related issues, as the TMZ video below indicates.

Also last month, Bynes was leaving a club: the TMZ paparazzo seems convinced she's very intoxicated and yet she gets behind the wheel of her car and drives off.

All this time, the pap can be heard pleading with the valet and Amanda's friend not to let her drive in her condition, but his words fall on deaf ears.
