With the sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” reaching its overall finale at the end of the ninth season, The Talk daytime talk show invited all the cast to share their experiences and memories on what it meant to be on the comedy show.

While actor Neil Patrick Harris played it cool and said that he was going to miss the suits and the catchphrases, some other members of the cast took on a more personal approach.

Alyson Hanningan in particular seems to have taken the departure from the show, really hard, as her eyes welled up in tears when being asked how she felt to say goodbye to on-screen husband Jason Segel.

She tried to put on a brave face, saying “I'm not going to miss him,” but her eyes spoke a different tale, as she battled to dry her eyes through her mascara. She joked about it saying “I'm on a daytime talk show crying, this isn't how it was supposed to go.”

Meanwhile, Segel gushed at this sudden show of emotion “Aww, babe,” he said and gave the actress a pat on the shoulder. The attention turned to him, and Harris quickly joked “If you don't cry you're a horrible person.”

Segel went on to reveal his true feelings for Hannigan, “Aly and I have a lot of scenes together, spend a lot of time together, and she's always been there to listen to me and give me advice. [She] saw me through hard times and good times,” and then added “I learned a lot from being around Alyson by the kind of person that I wanted to be.”

Meanwhile, Alyson was still trying to dry her eyes. Seeing her struggle, Segel took out a handkerchief and handed it to her, in a chivalrous gesture. Harris high-fived him, in awe of his gentlemanly behavior as the audiences broke out in applause.

It soon all turned to comedy when Segel admitted that he had been carrying that handkerchief for 15 years, during which moment, Hannigan took it from her face and immediately dropped to the floor in disgust.
