After being acquired by Alvarion in 2004 from the Interwave Wireless company, the Cellular Mobile Unit has now reached the warm and welcoming hands of the in-building system provider LGC Wireless. As it has been officially announced, the 15 million $ deal has been signed so LGC will be able to offer all the solutions that will give the enterprises total wireless coverage, solutions that will include, together with the antenna systems that made them famous, pico base stations and soft switching technology.

Ian Sugarbroad, the president and CEO of LGC Wireless, has stated that the best move to make for its company is to get in the middle of the highly competitive in-building market so it can prove that the newly acquired mobile unit is the thing that has failed to achieve a stronger position over the other companies.

The deal, signed on November 21st, has given LGC total control to CMU's patents, manufacturing rights, technology, inventory, receivables and equipment and right after the final drop of ink landed on the contract, Sugarbroad declared its company's intention to keep the Mountain View, California and Shenzen, China offices in place to continue working on the current projects.

The future executive vice president and general manager of the CMU is John R. O'Connell, a businessman with enough experience in this industry to be called a veteran. Its former positions were CEO for Kineto Wireless and Vyyo and as senior vice president and general manager for the GSM Nortel division.

LGC is also expecting to cover the expenses of this acquisition very fast due to the fact that CMU has generated 21 million $ in revenues for its former owner, Alvarion, in less than nine months, a fact that promises quick remuneration to the in-building company that is the new owner of the Cellular Mobile Unit.
