Spearheading audio progress

The fact that Altec Lansing is one of the names with the fastest growth in the audio industry and in the customers' choices is no longer a piece of news. Neither is the fact that they have brought a completely new breath of innovation in an industry that was somehow becoming rather boring...today it is (fortunately) time to bring them back on the front page as they have announced new great gear due to be released quite soon, namely August.

From the smallest and seemingly unimportant pieces of tech and up to the highly-engineered equipment, the world of audio technology will welcome some most nifty gear in the shape of the powered home theater speaker systems, PT8051 and PT7031.

The PT8051 is a two-speaker array that will radically change the way you were experiencing surround sound multimedia in your home, no matter if we're talking music or motion pictures. The first speaker, to be placed in the TV area, below or above it, will deliver you the sparkling vivid sound of the center and front left/front right channels in a 5.1 array, while the second speaker, placed behind the listener will deal with the rear right and left channels.

The PT7031 system is pretty much the same thing but is intended for the customers who want to own the latest sound technology available yet aren't in such a dire need for ultimate sound and would settle for a more "tamed" version.

The experience of the PT8051 and PT7031 powered home theaters will be even more thrilling as both systems will operate wirelessly, thus sparing you the fuss and troubles of piling up tens of meters of wire in your tidy room. And as if this wasn't enough yet, the audio enthusiasts will rejoice the Altec Lansing's new gear compatibility with Dolby technologies, including DTS listening modes.

The other launch prepared by the Altec Lansing squad is the new Upgrader headphone series containing no less than three completely new headphones to hit all major retailers in August: UHS 302, UHS 306 and UHS 307 (microphone version) or UHP 302, 306 and 307 -headphones only models; for more demanding listeners - the UHP 405 and 805 models.

Altec Lansing motivates this new wave of pretty and great gear with the constantly raising interest of the customers in portable music and the wider spread of the mobile devices, from MP3 players to more complex digital players, cellphones and the fresh iPhone.

In fact, the new Upgrader series headphones sport "specialized 'convertible' adapter developed to connect with the iPhone as well as with most mobile phones", as specced in the Altec Lansing press release. For audio enthusiasts, active users or simply casual listeners, the new Upgrader series has everything there is to headphones: crystal-clear, shimmering highs for the audiophile-type listeners down to crisp mids for enhanced vocal listening and heavy, extremely powerful bass that will rock your head off.

The 405 model sports a circumaural design for longer listening sessions while the 805 model features advanced noise-cancellation technology rendering these earcans perfect for planes, trains and other noisy places. Prices and more detailed specs to be announced shortly.

Thanks Jody (Altec Lansing) for the data.
