Altec A7 Speakers

It seem that the classics come back also in the technology world. Weird, isn't it? Oh, well, if you remember, back in the glamorous '50s, Altec's A7 speakers were considered as being a total success, the only ones certified by the Research Council, part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The company thought that after so many years, in which we must admit that technology has gone way beyond the imagination of the '50s, it should resurrect its old speakers and give them a kick on the retail market at a more than spicy price - about $6000 each. Unfortunately, the speakers aren't a bargain, even if they sport a 'handmade' design, as they come with a rather modest 200 watts and necessitate almost 10 weeks to be delivered.

Instead, I recommend Pioneer's eco-friendly two-way pure-malt speaker - the S-A4SPT-PM, which features enclosures made from 100 year over old white oak whisky barrels. It is cheaper and very stylish, not to mention the high tech capabilities closed inside the whiskey barrel wood that proved to enrich the bass sound, maximizing the speaker drivers' performance.

On the other hand, we have NXT's innovation - the world's first front projection screen using NXT's SoundVu technology to produce sound directly from the screen itself - the ASS-60AK Speaker Screen.

More exactly, NXT's SoundVu technology enables the projection screen to become a loudspeaker by 'exciting' the surface. Consequently, the vibrations are undetectable to the naked eye so image quality is preserved while producing high quality sound.
