Alpine Linux is a security-oriented, lightweight Linux distribution based on musl libc and Busybox, which make up the terminal. It just hit version 3.0.5.

Alpine Linux is an operating system built for long-time users. By default, it relies mainly on the terminal and much of the work can be done from there. It's quite easy to install on a desktop environment, like Xfce for example, but it's not really attractive on this distro.

"The Alpine Linux project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 3.0.5 of its Alpine Linux operating system. This is a bugfix release of the v3.0 musl based branch. This release is based on the 3.14.20 kernel which has some critical security fixes," said the devs in the announcement.

According to the changelog, the curve25519pad package has been added, it's not possible to specify more command options for init.d, the libc detection for selective patching has been improved, and mysql is now at version 5.5.40.

At the same time, the famous Bash vulnerability has been corrected and numerous other packages have been upgraded.

The complete changelog can be found on the official website. You can download Alpine Linux 3.0.5 right now from Softpedia. The developer of the OS has extensive documentation on his website, if you feel that the distro is too complicated to use.
