Parental control and media indexing, reloaded

Taking into account the tremendous rate of development known by the Internet, you don't have to be the owner of an IQ over 200 to figure out that the number of dangerous sites has also increased a lot, and protecting your kids from unwanted web content is one of the main concerns for today's parents. Leaving this problem behind, I'll move to another issue that is related to the large quantity of data available in a location or another - media indexing. If you own a large collection of CDs, DVDs or even media files on your hard drive, then you know what I mean...

Alorsoft is a software company that updated at the same time two applications designed to take care of the problems described above. The first of them is Watcher, a parental control software that got up to version 4.1, and the second is Media Indexer, the media indexing utility from Alorsoft that reached version 2.1 on this occasion.

Watcher 4.1 comes with some bug fixes, an improved level of security for network-based configurations and software update notification, being able to run on the latest MacBooks, as well as on old G3 iMacs, while sharing your settings between all the Macs that you own and update them in real time!

Media Indexer 2.1 has more preferences than before, easier notes editing and software update notification, so now you can index your CDs and DVDs and manage your catalogs without the smallest headache. With this application you can take advantage of an automatic indexation feature and Spotlight integration, as well as an advanced built in search engine.

Watcher and Media Indexer are available for 13$ each, but if you are lucky to buy them during the brief rebate offered at this time, you can get them for half the price. Watcher needs Mac OS X 10.3.9 to run, while Media Indexer requires Mac OS X 10.4 to run without problems.
