Fernando Alonso is looking forward to racing in Turkey. And not because the Istanbul circuit brought him that much luck in the past, but because Renault has apparently resolved all its technical problems over the past 2 weeks. At least that's what the current world champion thinks about his team. Considering the fact that only a pit-stop problem prevented the Spaniard from winning the Hungarian GP, Alonso feels confident that both Michelin and Renault have done their homework before the last 4 races of the season. "There was some pressure on us after Germany, but the race in Hungary showed that the R26 is still very competitive. Turkey will bring its own challenges, but I am feeling confident. This type of circuit suits our car, and Michelin will bring good tyres. So we need to concentrate on our job, put the package together and not make mistakes. I am in the position where everybody wants to be: leading the championship, with the races counting down", said Alonso yesterday. Although he got off perfectly in the season, Alonso started losing power in the last 4 races of the season. Soon after putting 25 points between him and Schumacher, the Spaniard lost 15 points in only 4 races. More, he abandoned his first GP in the current season, after 11 consecutive point-scoring races. He started the Hungarian GP back in the 14th place on the starting grid, but managed to recover in the first 2 laps. Soon after completing the first 10 laps, Alonso was leading the race. Still, after his second pit stop, the Spaniard had to retire because of a mechanical problem. The Turkish GP will get under way on Sunday, at 14.00 CET.
