14 DAY TRIAL // Video game publisher Atari is delivering teaser trailers for both Alone in the Dark: Illumination and Haunted House: Cryptic Graves, allowing fans to get a sneak peek at the new versions of the games that will be launched later in the fall.
Both games are classics of the genre, and the new editions are set to bring them to an entirely new audience of players who will experience their unique mix of survival horror, stories and interesting twists.
The original Alone in the Dark was first introduced in 1992 and the classic elements of the experience are included in the re-imagining, with gamers needing to survive by battling a number of monsters and the dynamic environments in order to destroy the curse that haunts an abandoned town.
Gamers will be able to enjoy a cooperative multiplayer mode by liberating the Hunter, the Engineer, the Priest and the Witch, playable characters that come with their own unique powers and weapons.
Alone in the Dark: Illumination is created by Pure F.P.S, a new development team which includes the founding members of Plastic Piranha and a number of other creators with experience with titles like Dead Island 2, Bioshock Infinite, Wolfenstein, Homefront, Spec Ops: The Line, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142.
Fred Chesnais, the chief executive officer at Atari, states, “Atari was at the forefront of the survival horror game genre, with both Haunted House and Alone in the Dark shaping the category throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s. The modern and updated versions of these games will resonate with enthusiasts of the classics worldwide, and engage new fans through suspenseful, action-packed PC gameplay.”
Haunted House: Cryptic Graves will deliver a single-player focused adventure horror experience which has puzzles the player has to solve and a number of supernatural entities to interact with.
The protagonist is a capable psychic and is exploring the Abbadon Grange estates, where a number of suspicious events are taking place.
Gamers will need to communicate with the dead in order to solve puzzles and avoid traps, and they are also able to purge monsters and evil spirits that are blocking their progress.
The new Haunted House is being created by Dreampainters Software.
Both titles will be launched before the end of the year on the PC and more details about them will be offered soon.
It’s unclear whether Atari is aiming to reveal any entirely new games or whether it will continue to dig into its back catalog and remake titles.
