Global leader in mobile Internet solutions Bytemobile, Inc. today announced that Alltel Wireless has selected it for the management of web, video and gateway traffic. According to the company, the wireless carrier chose Bytemobile’s integrated web, video and gateway platform for the management of an accelerating volume of traffic on its high-speed airwaves.

At the same time, the mobile phone carrier announced that it plans on deploying a content filtering solution from Bytemobile, so as to offer parents the possibility to manage the content their children have access to on their mobile phones.

The new solutions should become available for all of over 800,000 subscribers the Little Rock, Arkansas-based wireless carrier accounts for.

“We are committed to delivering the best value in wireless service to our customers,” said Ken Borner, vice president of Engineering & Network Operations, Alltel Wireless.

“Sharing that commitment, Bytemobile offers a comprehensive portfolio of integrated solutions to help us realize data revenue growth and data delivery cost savings while providing a superior mobile internet experience.

“Bytemobile’s platform will enable us to cost-effectively deliver open web browsing to subscribers on all wireless handheld devices. We are also able to offer them protection from inappropriate content.”

Bytemobile notes that its research unveiled the fact that mobile video is one of the major factors that results in reduced bandwidth availability and which also drives to network congestions.

Bytemobile’s traffic management solutions should provide the needed comprehensive approach to managing network congestion regardless the type of traffic.

As soon as the company's solution is deployed, the carrier's customers would enjoy a better wireless experience, no matter the manner in which they are using their devices.

“In the U.S., we have seen not only a significant uptake of mobile data, but also a significant shift in the types of traffic consuming network resources,” said Bob Riccitelli, Bytemobile vice president and general manager, North America.
