Mobile phone carrier Alltel Wireless has recently added the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 to its offering, providing its users with the possibility to enjoy the first BlackBerry Pearl flip phone on the market. According to the news around the web, the new handset, which was announced a few weeks ago, is targeted mainly at young users, while coming to the carrier as an introductory BlackBerry.

Among the goodies that the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 is able to provide to Alltel subscribers, we can count an internal LCD screen that is able to deliver a 240 x 320-pixel QVGA resolution, coupled with an external display that boasts a 160 x 128- pixel resolution, not to mention the SureType QWERTY keyboard included in the package.

In addition, the new mobile phone also has Trackball navigation, a built-in GPS receiver along with support for BlackBerry Maps, a 2 megapixel photo snapper that includes video recording capabilities, Stereo Bluetooth support, Media player with iTunes and Windows Media Player sync and HTML browsing capabilities, as well as a microSD memory card slot for extra storage space.

Another feature that has been included with the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8230 and which will most likely appeal a lot to Alltel users is the 3G connectivity on the operator's EVDO network. The handset is not one of the most popular BlackBerries on the market, but will certainly make some people rejoice.

Those that would like to purchase the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8230 from Alltel will find it available for $99.99 upon signing for a two-year contract agreement and after a $70 mail-in-rebate. The handset is compact and ‘pocket-able’ and might appeal to a lot of users, which will find it online at shopalltel, as well as in Alltel retail shops. In addition to the phone, it seems that Alltel users will also receive a Bluetooth headset and a car charger for free.
