Alltel Wireless launched a new application named Celltop, which - according to the company - will provide users with a quicker more convenient way to access personal data. The Brew application will run on devices like the Samsung SCH-U520.

With the help of the application, information will be organized into two side-by-side cells on the screen and each cell can be set to provide information like news, weather or the user's inbox or call log.

Among the included free cells, you will find Call Log, Inbox, News, Stocks, Weather Ringtones, Baseball, Basketball and Football, most of them providing information only, while others, like Ringtone will list both the ringtones the user currently has stored on the phone and the popular ringtones the user can purchase from Alltel's portal.

The application allows a pretty high level of customization. The cell order or the color of the user interface can be changed as well as other settings. To sum it up, what you can do with the Celltop application includes managing and purchasing ringtones, managing text messages, calls and voicemail or viewing sports, entertainment and weather news.

The ten free cells that come pre-installed or that can be downloaded are free for Alltel customers along with the purchase of a compatible mobile phone.

After that, the user will be charged for air-time minutes. The Axcess Minutes add-on plan, for $10 a month will provide unlimited data minutes.

Celltop is now available on select Alltel Wireless mobile phones, like the Samsung U520 and will soon be available for the MOTORAZR V3m, the MOTOKRZR and the LG AX245.
