Chances are high that people are still talking about that whole live “Sound of Music” production that NBC staged last year, trying to decide if Carrie Underwood was a hit or not. While you try to wrap your head around that, the main role for their new live project, “Peter Pan,” has just been cast to Allison Williams.

Allison might be known to you from her role in “Girls,” and NBC seems to think that she will “bring the perfect blend of boyish vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken's powerful Captain Hook.”

The above statement belongs to Robert Greenblatt, chairman at NBC Entertainment, who was quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. His opinion is mirrored by executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who think that Williams will “ reinvent the iconic role of Peter Pan with her wit, her warmth, her dynamic flying and her wonderful musical abilities.”

Everyone seems to agree that “Allison Williams is a major find,” and that she will ensure that “ the score will be sung beautifully and introduced to a whole new generation of families.”

For her part, Williams can't be more excited at landing the role, “I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” she gushes while adding that “It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team.”

At least she's got a healthy sense of humor about the whole deal, “what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”

The NBC live performance of “Peter Pan” is scheduled to take place later this year, on December 4.
