14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics might be finally moving towards a metal build for its Android-based smartphones, recently leaked photos of Galaxy S5’s frame suggest.
Samsung has been long rumored to plan moving away from the plastic build that its Galaxy devices employ at the moment, but no official confirmation on the matter has emerged until now.
However, leaked photos that appeared over at Nowhereelse.fr show what reportedly represents the metal frame of the upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship, thus suggesting that the phone will indeed feature a different design than the previous models.
Furthermore, the news site claims that Samsung will pack the upcoming device with an aluminum body, the same as Apple’s iPhone 5s or the HTC One sport.
If the rumor doesn’t pan out, we might see Samsung launching its upcoming smartphone with a plastic case wrapped around the aforementioned metal frame, as BGR notes.
Galaxy S5, supposedly set to become official sometime in the first quarter of the next year, is also expected to be a bit larger than this year’s Galaxy S4, and the leaked photos appear to support this rumor.
Previous reports also suggested that Samsung might plan on launching the forthcoming handset with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display, one that would be able to deliver a 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution.
At the same time, chances are that the smartphone will be powered by a 64-bit processor, as ARM and Samsung are said to have already nailed almost all details of such a chip.
Unfortunately, no official confirmation on the next flagship smartphone in Samsung’s Android lineup has been provided as of now, and chances are that Samsung will launch it with completely different specs in the end.
