Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is rumored to plan the release of new small-form factor Android based devices, following this year's launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro.

However, the company is expected to pack a rumored sequel of the Xperia X10 mini with some more appealing hardware specifications, so that the device would offer performance levels on par with what high-end devices deliver now.

The guys over at Android and Me found a post on this upcoming devices on se.it168.com, and they note that the handset might become official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February next year.

According to the news site, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini sequel would be powered by Google's new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Moreover, the device is expected to include a 1 GHz Snapdragon application processor inside, along with a 3-inch touchscreen display.

Among the known hardware specifications of this device, we can count a sliding QWERTY keyboard, along with a front-facing camera, which would enable video calling.

Of course, the device would also come with a higher-quality photo snapper on the back, and with other features packed inside, though nothing was confirmed on it for the time being.

All in all, it seems that next year's MWC show would be a pretty interesting event, since some of the previous reports around the Internet suggested that Sony Ericsson might be launching other devices there as well.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread is expected to power at least two new devices from the company, including the long rumored PlayStation Phone, which made it to the headlines a lot lately.

There is also the Xperia X12 on the list, along with two newly spotted mobile phones from the company, which sport the model numbers LT15i and MT15i.

Sony Ericsson already sent out invites to an Xperia unveiling set for February 13th at MWC, and at least one of these devices might be made official at the time.
