A new screenshot that reached the web a few minutes ago shows what seems to be the upcoming Windows 8.1 Milestone Preview, which represents the public beta of Windows 8’s major update.

While no other details have been provided, we can all see that the Start button is indeed there, so it looks like this is actually a new development build of the operating system.

In addition, the leaked screenshot indicates that Windows 8.1 Milestone Preview is labeled as build 9428, but no download links are available for the time being for those of you who’d like to give it a spin.

Of course, we can’t guarantee that this screenshot is real or not, but one thing is for sure: we’re only a week away from the public launch of Windows 8.1 Preview, so get ready to test what’s being called Windows 8’s only chance to impress.
