Mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility is reportedly gearing up for the release of new, highly appealing devices, being ready to once more conquer the mobile market.

Among the handsets that would help the company do so, we can count quad-core-packing smartphones, which should make an official appearance sometime towards the end of the ongoing year.

We already had the chance to say a few words on two possible such handsets from Motorola, the Bullet and Jet, but it seems that now we can have a look at what is said to be the first photo of one of the upcoming devices.

Motorola is reportedly testing the said device with a multi-core application processor inside, and with a high-resolution touchscreen display on the front.

While no official confirmation on the mobile phone emerged for the time being, the guys over at Droid-life suggest that it might indeed be one of the aforementioned quad-core products.

On the other hand, they also note that this might be only a DROID X2 flavor (though it appears to be much thicker than the yet unannounced smartphone).

What is known on this device is that it should land on shelves with a qHD display on board, and that it would pack a 12-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a 1900mAh battery. It should sport a “rubbery silver back” when made available for purchase.

In all fairness, there is a great possibility that the handset would prove to be one of the aforementioned quad-core smartphones from Motorola, though they could as easily turn out to be only DROID X versions.

The guys over at Droid-life also took their time to compare the handset in these photos with the DROID X, and discovered that they resemble a lot, except maybe for the thickness.

Since nothing was confirmed on the matter for the time being, we'll take it with a grain of salt, while waiting for more details to emerge.
