The launch of the OnePlus 2 is still a few months away from us, but even so, we can be pretty sure the company is actively involved in its development. Actually, an experimental prototype of the phone might have just gotten benchmarked this week.

The device already leaked online several times, and a bunch of photos purportedly showing the upcoming phone also surfaced at some point.

This week, the purported OnePlus 2 apparently showed up in Geekbench, confirming some of the specs previously rumored for the phone.

The device that appeared on the benchmarking site was listed as OnePlus One model number A2001, but while the current version on the market draws life from a quad-core 2.5GHz CPU, the version that surfaced this week is powered by a 1.55GHz octa-core processor.

OnePlus 2 and Snapdragon 810 seem to be making a team

Not so long ago, we told you that OnePlus’ own CEO Pete Lau revealed during a conversation with fans on the social website Weibo that their next-gen phone would take advantage of a Snapdragon 810. Which is the case here.

The only other piece of information revealed by the Geekbench listing is that the phone bundles 3GB of RAM, which is in line with earlier rumors.

We can also see that the purported OnePlus 2 with Snapdragon 810 on the inside scored 4,093 points in multicore tests and 1,256 points in single core tests.

Comparing these results with other Geekbench figures, we have to draw the conclusion that the OnePlus 2 will actually be able to perform quite decently.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge with Exynos 7420 on the inside have scored 5,215 and 5,095 points, respectively, while the HTC One M9 with Snapdragon 810 managed to grab 3,761 points.

So, as least in its prototype form, the OnePlus 2 does seem to be performing better than the One M9.

The OnePlus 2 is also expected to arrive with a 5.5-inch or 6-inch display with 2K resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) and a “better than TouchID” fingerprint scanner.

The company’s CEO also spilled the beans regarding pricing, so we expect to see the OnePlus 2 arrive on the market boasting a price tag that revolves around $400 / €355. Any takers?
