The leaked chassis may be intended for testing and prototype purposes only

There’s less than a month until the rumored reveal of the next version of the iPhone, which is expected to happen on September 9, and rumors surrounding the announcement continue to surface online.

So, let the rumor mill commence once again. Today’s leak features the long-rumored 5.5-inch iPhone 6 variant, which has already appeared briefly in several leaks in the last couple of weeks.

Apple enthusiasts who are more excited about the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model rather than its slightly smaller 4.7-inch version will probably be disappointed to hear that this particular variant is likely to be delayed and will not make it for September release.

The information has been suggested in previous leaks, but BestTechInfo has more sources deep within the Chinese supply chain that say that there is a limited quantity of 5.5-inch iPhone 6 components in the factory, suggesting that Apple does not plan to bring this model on the market anytime soon.

That being said, it looks like the iPhone 4.7-inch will be the only iPhone 6 that will make it to the market around September 9, while the 5.5-inch version will probably be introduced sometime in 2015, hopefully earlier.

Now, the live picture of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 shell does not seem to be a mass market product, but rather intended for testing and prototype purposes only.

In light of the new info coming directly from China, there’s a slim chance that we will be seeing a larger than 4.7-inch iPhone 6 next month, though Apple may still announce the 5.5-inch version but release it on the market at a later date.

Unlike previous iPhone models release by Apple, the iPhone 6 is said to feature a completely different design, which is why the amount of leaked info about this particular model may seem overwhelming at times.

Moreover, the fact that Apple plans to launch not one, but two iPhone 6 versions with different hardware and mostly likely different design, makes it more exciting for Big Apple’s fans.

Now with only a few weeks left until the alleged reveal of the iPhone 6, there is little that Apple can change in the phone’s hardware and design, which means that the next leaks emerging online may eventually show one of the final versions of the device.
