You'll be able to cast any type of content to your TV, including personal videos and games

Chromecast users will soon be able to mirror the content playing on their Android devices, thanks to an app called AllCast.

The app already lets you send photos, music and videos from Android to the TV, but it only supported Roku, Apple TV, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Samsung, Sony and Panasonic Smart TVs, DLNA Renderers and WDTV. Chromecast support is on the way, the developer reveals.

According to The Next Web, Android content mirroring over to the TV is the next big thing to happen for AllCast users, something that was confirmed by the app’s developer.

As demonstrated by Koushik Dutta, the developer behind AllCast, with his app, you could even play your games and read your emails from your phone, straight on the TV.

This particular feature has been missing from Chromecast so far. Google has managed to keep a leash on the device for over six months, only allowing users to cast Chrome pages over to the TV, YouTube videos or content from several services, such as Netflix and HBO Go.

Many users have been complaining that they cannot cast their own content, such as videos, pictures and music to the TV, especially after paying $35 for the Google dongle.

Several weeks ago, the Internet giant shared the Chromecast SDK with the world, allowing developers to create their own tools, with very few restrictions.

Since the code is already out there, new apps are surely on the way, or, in this case, an important update for AllCast.

As mentioned, this has been one of the most desired features by Chromecast users. While AllCast is limited to Android devices, a similar tool for desktop computers would certainly have a lot of success and it is already almost certainly being developed.

Chromecast was launched back in July and has been restricted to the United States for the most part. Stores owners around the world have gotten their hands on the device, however, and they’ve been selling it in most countries.

Officially, however, Chromecast is rumored to become available in the United Kingdom early next month and in Australia sometime later this year.
